A few years before that, Alexa had actually tried out Chobots.com. She had heard about it after a famous Club Penguin blogger posted a video of his Chobot drawing in the underground art walls. Fascinated by the fact you could actually draw in a game, she made an account. We both tried out .com probably once or twice. It was slightly confusing for us and not really our style back then. We were too young to really appreciate all of the fun things Chobots offered.
Two years later, Alexa and I were both in our bedroom getting ready for bed. I then asked her "Whatever happened to that little game we tried out where we were called robots or something like that?" She stood there for a minute thinking, then she replied, "OH! Chobots? That game was hacked and shut down." I was appalled by the fact that an ENTIRE virtual world was hacked and then simply shut down. The next day I tried going to the website, and sure enough, it was gone.
Alexa then found Chobots.net. She was on her laptop probably 24/7 looking for new games and signing up for different kinds of virtual worlds. I don't know where I was at the time, or what I was doing, but she ended up making an account on Chobots. I guess she forgot to tell me about it or she did and I just didn't care. She played it for a brief time and then forgot about it as well.
It wasn't until this January that we really became avid Chobots players. Alexa started playing on it a lot, and told me all of the amazing things you could do. She told me about Agency, Moderators, Journalists, and everything else. I was never a big gamer myself. In fact, I didn't really even care for Club Penguin. It was boring for me and I wasn't willing to purchase the membership that Club Penguin pushed so much. Chobots looked so much more interesting and unique compared to other games. I tried logging in with the username "Flapiefeet," my staple username for every game since I was 8 years old. Sure enough, I had an existing account that was already 100 days old.
When I first logged into Chobots, the first Chobot to welcome me was Art. Back in January, I guess Chobots was at its peak. There were many users all over. "Cafe Street" was super full. It really meant a lot when he welcomed me since no one else even noticed I was there. I asked him a ton of noob questions. Like, "How do I earn bugs?" "How do I get a colored chat bubble?" and etc. It's funny how I went from asking questions, to now answering them and helping out new users!
An average weekend on Chobots when we first started playing in January.
There were always quite a few users online. You can spot Alexa and
I at the top of the screen. She's wearing vintage wings, and I'm
wearing Egyptian magic.
Alexa and I have come a long way on Chobots. In the beginning, we were pretty much nothing! Chobots is like an entire family and I can't imagine how boring my life would be without it. I've never understood why other players go around upset about Chobots.com shutting down. I never really played Chobots.com, so I can't judge it. However, compared to any virtual world out there, Chobots.net is the best. <3
Have an amazing day,
Grace
